Jehovah’s Witnesses help flood victims in Japan – JWnews

In western Japan, where flooding occurred in July 2018, more than 47,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses reside. As soon as they heard about the disaster, approximately 4,900 volunteers volunteered to help their co-religionists repair and clean their homes and Kingdom Halls from dirt and debris.

Courage though confined – JWnews

Dennis Christensen has been imprisoned for his faith for about a year and a half. During this time, he appeared in court about 50 times. It is planned that the hearings in the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of the city of Orel will be held until mid-December. A year and a half in the SIZO did not break the spirit of Dennis at all. This shows that Jehovah hears millions of prayers for Brother Dennis, which his co-religionists offer all over the world.

Rising to the challenge of bloodless medicine and surgery – JWnews

It was not until World War I and II that blood transfusion was first used, primarily for military casualties. Until then really, all surgeries were essentially without the use of blood. In fact, up until the 19th-century bloodletting rather than blood transfusion was the standard practice in medicine (Basics of Blood Management, 2013).

Montana Department of Transportation to pay Jehovah’s Witnesses – JWnews

A jury ruled the Montana Department of Transportation has to pay $145,050 to the Belgrade Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for a chunk of its land the state needs to expand Jackrabbit Lane.

Following a three-day trial earlier this month, a three-person jury issued a decision Monday for the property located at 5590 Jackrabbit Lane, between Frank Road and Cameron Bridge Road.

Jehovah’s Witness parents who refused blood transfusion for son back in court – JWnews

A Durban Jehovah’s Witness couple who were challenged in court by the KZN Health MEC after they refused to allow their chronically ill son to have a blood transfusion are expected to file answering affidavits in the Durban High Court on Wednesday.

Despite a court order instructing that the 5-year-old, who suffers from sickle cell anaemia be given the blood transfusion if necessary, the parents were adamant that they believed in an alternative medical approach.

JEHOVAH’S WITNESS LEADER IN RUSSIA FACES CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR ‘EXTREMISM’ – JWnews

On Tuesday, the country’s Investigative Committee announced that an investigation into the man had been launched in the far eastern Kamchatka region, The Moscow Times reported. Jarrod Lopes, a communications representative for the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses, told Newsweek that the case had been initiated against 44-year-old Sergey Ledenyov.

The lawless Police of Ufa, Russia – JWnews

The arrived police took the women to the police station, where they held them until morning. During interrogation, they were not allowed to go to the toilet. Under threat of imprisonment, believers were forced to sign a protocol on disorderly conduct and were released without issuing copies of the protocols.

Archaeology – Archaeologists discovered a ring belonging Pontius Pilate – JWnews

Professor Gideon Foerster from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem led the dig that discovered the ring at the site of the Herodion fortress in the West Bank shortly after the Six Day War in 1967. Archaeologists were only recently able to decipher the name in Greek writing on the ring.

Court Upholds South Korea Conscientious Objection – JWnews

In a landmark verdict, South Korea’s top court Thursday ruled that people can legally reject mandatory military service on conscientious or religious grounds and must not be punished.

The Supreme Court ruling is expected to affect the cases of more than 900 conscientious objectors on trial, as hundreds of South Koreans, mostly Jehovah’s Witnesses, are imprisoned every year for refusing to serve in the military.

S. Korea releases 58 conscientious objectors – JWnews

The Ministry of Justice has stated that on Friday, November 30, 2018, all conscientious objectors who have served at least one third of their 18-month prison sentence will be released on parole. Therefore, 57 of the 64 brothers currently imprisoned should be released. We expect the remaining seven brothers to be released once they have served six months of their sentence.

200 police raid Jehovah’s Witnesses homes – JWnews

More than 200 police and FSB officers were involved in the raid on November 15, 2018 in Dzhankoy (Crimea). This evening, with support from the police, FSB officers invaded at least 8 houses of local residents suspected of practicing the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses. At least 25 law enforcement officers were thrown at the storming of each house.

CRIMEA: Up to 10 years’ jail for Jehovah’s Witness? – JWnews

On 14 November, the Russian FSB security service opened the first criminal case in occupied Crimea against a Jehovah’s Witness, Sergei Filatov, on the same “extremism”–related charges. The following day, about 10 groups of FSB security service and OMON riot police officers from Simferopol raided his and seven other homes in the northern Crimean town of Dzhankoi. During one raid, officers put a 78-year-old man – deported to Siberia by the Soviet Union for his faith when he was 9 – up against a wall and handcuffed him
